Carl Matos
Carl Matos was brought on board as CPEX’s Sales Manager in 2010 to add his extensive knowledge and unparalleled expertise to the SVN CPEX Real Estate sales team. With over 30 years of experience in the New York City commercial real estate market, Mr. Matos oversees all of the brokerage teams across CPEX’s various business lines, product types, and definitive specializations in each market. He also manages CPEX’s internal training program and provides individual business development to SVN CPEX Real Estate agents and operations staff. Having spent ten years working closely with Managing Partner, Timothy D. King, Mr. Matos is an integral force in furthering the growth of the SVN CPEX Real Estate operating platform.
Mr. Matos began his career in real estate as a Sales Agent with Rent Rite Realty/Interboro Management in Brooklyn. His responsibilities included rent collection, building maintenance and negotiating various vendor accounts for building services. After eight productive years, Mr. Matos took a sales position at the Brooklyn-based A&M Realty. He spent six years procuring apartment sales, co-op sales, and commercial leasing. Mr. Matos then took a position as a Commercial Real Estate Broker with Fillmore Real Estate, where over 12 years he successfully negotiated leases for some of the largest local, regional and national retailers in New York City.
Mr. Matos also spent three years with Clean Rite Centers alongside Mr. King, negotiating and executing leases and sales for 31 sites in New York City. As a member of this two-man team, he performed many tasks including scheduling, research, site selection, lease administration, lease negotiation and financial reporting.
Previous to joining CPEX, Mr. Matos worked as a Sales Director covering Sunset Park when Massey Knakal Realty Services (MKRS) opened its Brooklyn office in late 2002. In January 2006, he was promoted to Sales Manager, and worked under the direction of Mr. Leary, then Managing Partner at MKRS, to increase the productivity and professional development of the Brooklyn and Staten Island sales force.
Mr. Matos was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and raised in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. He is a graduate of Aviation High School in Long Island City and attended CUNY College and the Academy of Aeronautics. He also served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant for four years. In his spare time, Mr. Matos is committed to officiating football and baseball at both the college and high school levels, and enjoys flying with his recently completed pilot’s license. He currently resides in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
